mobility.

As an actor in the transport sector, the Mercedes-Benz Group supports the Paris Climate Agreement: We are convinced of the objectives of the agreement. Mercedes-Benz has made climate protection a core element of its business strategy with the aim of making the entire new vehicle fleet net carbon-neutral[1]Net carbon-neutral means that carbon emissions that are not avoided or reduced at Mercedes-Benz are compensated for by certified offsetting projects.
across all stages of the value chain by 2039.

In the view of Mercedes-Benz, the decarbonisation of the entire transport sector can be advanced via three main regulatory instruments: effective CO₂ targets for new vehicle fleets, increasing quotas for the share of renewable energies and nationwide establishment of CO₂ pricing mechanisms.

When designing the new EU7 emissions standard, the balance between effort and benefit during the transformation period must be ensured. With regard to the revision of the Air Quality Directive, Mercedes-Benz remains committed to revising the European Air Quality Directive in line with the needs of individual mobility and climate protection as far as possible. In addition to the transport sector, other sectors should also make a meaningful contribution for achieving good air quality in cities.

Following a Zero Carbon Technology strategy, Mercedes-Benz is taking the necessary steps to go all-electric. Customers and market conditions will set the pace of the transformation. The company plans to be in a position to cater different customer needs, whether it is an all-electric drivetrain or a combustion engine, until well into the 2030s.

production and the switch to an all-electric vehicle portfolio, an as far as possible closed loop of recyclable materials is also crucial in order to reduce overall resource consumption.

We are working flat out to make Mercedes-Benz an even more sustainable company. The automotive industry is currently transforming like never before in its history. As a manufacturer of passenger cars and vans, Mercedes-Benz wants to create added value for all its stakeholders in an economically, ecologically and socially more sustainable way.

ESG criteria are an important guideline for the actions within the Group. The abbreviation "ESG" stands for "Environmental", "Social" and "Governance". In line with its sustainable corporate strategy, the Mercedes-Benz Group concentrates on a large number of activities in these areas. As part of its advocacy work, the Group is a driving force in matters of sustainability and climate protection. For the Group, one thing is certain: only if it operates responsibly, it can be successful in the long term. Mercedes-Benz therefore supports both the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act and the EU's objective to create a basis for future common rules on due diligence.
