Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. (MBUSI) is the worldwide production location for a variety of large luxury SUVs bearing the three-pointed star. The highly flexible Mercedes-Benz production system allows the Alabama plant to assemble the GLE-, GLS- and GLE Coupe sport utility vehicles, as well as the Mercedes-Maybach GLS for all global markets. The plant also successfully launched the all-electric EQE SUV, EQS SUV and Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV as part of a global push to assemble all-electric vehicles at seven locations on three continents.

MBUSI’s state-of-the-art battery factory in Bibb County provides batteries for the new EQS SUV, EQE SUV and Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV. These EQ models are assembled under the same roof with SUVs with conventional drive and plug-in hybrid drive.

Roughly 60 percent of the SUVs assembled in Alabama are being exported to almost every country in the world and more than 4.5 million vehicles have been assembled since 1997, with around 260,000 SUVs rolling off its lines in 2024 alone. Mercedes-Benz Cars has invested more than USD 7 billion in the Alabama plant, including a USD 1 billion investment earmarked to construct the battery plant and preparing the plant to assemble electric passenger cars.

MBUSI currently employs around 6,000 Team Members with an estimated additional impact of more than 60,000¹ jobs with suppliers and service providers in the region. Around 200 suppliers in the United States are supporting the production at MBUSI.
