MBUSI

Mercedes-Benz U.S. International.

Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. is the traditional production location for the GLE-, GLS- and GLE Coupe sport utility vehicles, as well as the Mercedes-Maybach GLS for all global markets. The plant is preparing to produce all-electric Mercedes-EQ models, the EQE SUV and EQS SUV, starting in 2022 as part of a global push to produce all-electric vehicles at seven locations on three continents.

MBUSI’s state-of-the-art battery factory in Bibb County will provide batteries for the new EQS SUV and the EQE SUV. In the future, these vehicles will be produced on the same line together with SUVs with conventional drive and plug-in hybrid drive.

Around two thirds of the SUVs produced in Alabama are being exported to almost every country in the world and around 4 million vehicles have been built since 1997, with around 260,000 SUVs rolling off the production line in 2021 alone. Mercedes-Benz Cars has invested more than USD 7 billion in the Alabama plant, including a USD 1 billion investment earmarked to construct the battery plant and preparing the plant to produce electric passenger cars.

MBUSI currently employs around 4,500 Team Members and also secures an estimated additional 11,000 jobs with suppliers and service providers in the region.
