Business Information Systems/Data Science

In the degree program Business Informatics/Data Science you will learn how information is generated from large amounts of data in order to derive recommendations for action and how artificial intelligence can be used to solve business problems.

Theory

You will learn the basics of information technology, current methods of computer science and modern IT technologies for the development of software systems. You will gain a broad knowledge of programming, system development and project management. In addition, you will study business administration, economics, law and foreign languages. A small study group of about 30 people promotes direct contact not only with your fellow students, but also with the lecturers. In the last year of your studies, you will write your Bachelor's thesis and complete your studies with the "Bachelor of Science".

Practical Experience

During your studies, you will be perfectly integrated into various IT and business areas. Seminars and lectures, which are updated annually, round off your studies.

Fields of application

  • Software development: focus on big data, visualisation, data management, application of machine learning algorithms and optimization of IT systems
  • Data management: analysis of available data, visualisation and presentation of raw and processed data, and definition of suitable IT concepts for their efficient processing and secure storage in the corresponding information systems
  • Data-driven business models. Collaboration in the development of new approaches that emerge from digital mass data

Business Information Systems/International Management for Business and Information Technology (IMBIT)

Business Information Systems combines business sciences and computer science. In the field of study International Management for Business and Information Technology (IMBIT), intercultural management still plays a special role.

Theory

The focus of this dual business informatics program with the IMBIT field of study is on intercultural management. In addition to the knowledge of IT and business administration, students develop their language, methodological and social skills. In the final year of study, students write their Bachelor's thesis and complete their studies with a "Bachelor of Science" degree.

Practical experience

Accompanying your studies, you will work perfectly integrated in different IT and business areas. Seminars and lectures, which are updated annually, round off your studies.

Fields of application

In the IT area or as a direct supervisor of a customer area:

The objective of the study programme is to give you a deeper understanding of information technology core competences in addition to a profound business education. This enables you to accompany digital transformation processes at Mercedes-Benz competently and to help create the conditions for the company’s market success among the digital competition.

Theory

You will build up extensive knowledge of business administration and also attend lectures in economics, law, mathematics and statistics. The digital teaching content is taught to you by lecturers in the subjects Fundamentals of IT, IT Management, IT Security and IT Law, Business Analytics/Big Data and Selected Key Technologies for Digital Business Model.

Practice

During your studies, you will work independently in various business units. You will contribute to the digital transformation in the business environment and make an important contribution to the company's success. We will support you in every phase and bring you closer to your profession - and to your future business.

A global company needs people who think – and act – globally. As a dual study graduate in business studies/international business, you will be ideally equipped for a wide range of international roles.

Theory

English, German and partly Spanish – you can gain an insight into your future deployment areas just from the languages used in the lectures. Learning takes place in small study groups in direct contact with your tutors, through the use of case studies and through self-study in main topics.The course can also include a semester abroad in another country.

Practice

Your practical application will give you the opportunity to use your theoretical knowledge in a real working environment. Thorough involvement in day-to-day business activities and a range of accompanying training courses will ensure you are optimally prepared for your subsequent assignments. You will graduate from the course with a Bachelor of Arts.

Theory

In addition to the basic knowledge of business administration as well as the in-depth subjects of logistics, supply chain and service management, another specialist focus is on transferring lean management to logistics-relevant issues and project management in logistics.
Digital content is indispensable and is part of the following subjects: Digital transformation and new concepts in service management as well as fundamentals of automation and digitalisation of services.

Theory

The holistic - economic, ecological and social - view of a company's sustainability targets and their implementation are part of very different subjects. Course contents include basic knowledge of management, specialist knowledge of the circular economy, sustainable finance or sustainability reporting. You will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Practical Experience

For example, you will develop solutions for sustainable business models, taking into account economic, ecological and social values.
