Commercial courses/fields of study

Business Information Systems combines economics and computer science. Students of Business Information Systems/Application Management learn how IT systems can be developed in a structured manner, introduced systematically and operated reliably.

Theory

Students learn the basics of information technology, current methods of computer science and modern IT technologies for the development of software systems. In the Application Management field of study, you will acquire specialist knowledge for information systems with an operational focus. You learn how IT systems can be developed in a structured way, systematically introduced, reliably operated and continuously optimized. A small study group of about 30 people promotes direct contact not only with your fellow students, but also with the lecturers. In the final year of study, you will write your Bachelor's thesis and complete your studies with the "Bachelor of Science" degree.

Practical experience

During your studies, you will be perfectly integrated into various IT and business areas. You learn the competent handling of application programs and various developer tools. Your studies are rounded off by annually updated seminars and lectures.

Fields of application

In the IT area or as a direct supervisor of a customer area:

  • Software development: development of new applications in all areas of the company
  • IT management: planning and control of all IT measures and structures
  • Standard software support: Providing companies and employees with high-performance IT support at all times
  • Project management: development of complex IT solutions with project groups

In the degree program Business Informatics/Data Science you will learn how information is generated from large amounts of data in order to derive recommendations for action and how artificial intelligence can be used to solve business problems.

Theory

You will gain a broad knowledge of programming, system development and project management. In addition, you will study business administration, economics, law and foreign languages. A small study group of about 30 people promotes direct contact not only with your fellow students, but also with the lecturers. In the last year of your studies, you will write your Bachelor's thesis and complete your studies with the "Bachelor of Science".

Practical Experience
During your studies, you will be perfectly integrated into various IT and business areas. Seminars and lectures, which are updated annually, round off your studies.

Fields of application

  • Software development: focus on big data, visualization, data management, application of machine learning algorithms and optimization of IT systems
  • Data management: analysis of available data, visualization and presentation of raw and processed data, and definition of suitable IT concepts for their efficient processing and secure storage in the corresponding information systems
  • Data-driven business models. Collaboration in the development of new approaches that emerge from digital mass data

Business Information Systems combines business sciences and computer science. In the field of study International Management for Business and Information Technology (IMBIT), intercultural management still plays a special role.

Theory

The focus of this dual business informatics program with the IMBIT field of study is on intercultural management. In addition to the knowledge of IT and business administration, students develop their language, methodological and social skills. In the final year of study, students write their Bachelor's thesis and complete their studies with a "Bachelor of Science" degree.

Practical experience

Accompanying your studies, you will work perfectly integrated in different IT and business areas. Seminars and lectures, which are updated annually, round off your studies.

Theory
Your major subject will include banking operations, business administration and economics, as well as in finance and accounting. You can deepen your knowledge of commercial papers and derivatives for example. You will write a dissertation during your sixth assignment before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts.

Practice
Deployment across various business areas and dealerships will provide you with a thorough insight into of the company. Through the active participation in the day-to-day business activities and a range of project tasks you will learn all about the operational sequences in different departments.

  • Risk management: Analysis and decision-making for the granting of loans
  • Leasing and financing: e.g. in the private vehicle, fleet management (major customer accounts) and CharterWay (truck leasing) divisions

The objective of the study programme is to give you a deeper understanding of information technology core competences in addition to a profound business education. This puts you in position to competently support business development at Daimler and to help create the conditions for the company’s market success in industry 4.0 technologies.

Theory

  • Compulsory subjects in business administration: accounting, marketing, economics, financial book-keeping, law, human resources, material and production management, information technology, mathematics, statistics, working academically, general business administration
  • Compulsory subjects in industry 4.0: IT basics, introduction to industrial management, information management, communication systems, IT management and IT law, development and design in the field of 4.0, such as Cyber Physical Systems, Digital Enterprise, Cloud Computing, Business Intelligence & Big Data

Practice
During your studies you will work independently in various business units. You will create and accompany the exciting changes making for the success of industry 4.0 technologies. We will support you at every stage and provide you with an understanding of your job - and your future business.

A global company needs people who think – and act – globally. As a dual study graduate in business studies/international business, you will be ideally equipped for a wide range of international roles.

Theory
English, German and partly Spanish – you can gain an insight into your future deployment areas just from the languages used in the lectures. Learning takes place in small study groups in direct contact with your tutors, through the use of case studies and through self-study in main topics. The course also includes a semester abroad in another European country.

Practice
Your practical application will give you the opportunity to use your theoretical knowledge in a real working environment. Thorough involvement in day-to-day business activities and a range of accompanying training courses will ensure you are optimally prepared for your subsequent assignments. You will graduate from the course with a Bachelor of Arts.
