Plug-in hybrids offer customers the best of both worlds: in the city they can drive fully electrically – provided the battery is sufficiently charged and driving conditions are suitable – while on long journeys they benefit from the range of the combustion engine. On the one hand, they recuperate braking energy and store it in the battery to reuse it for driving, and, on the other hand, they allow the combustion engine to run at favourable operating points. For this purpose, Mercedes-Benz has developed a modular hybrid system kit.
Fourth generation plug-in hybrid.
In the new GLC, Mercedes-Benz already relies on the fourth generation of the plug-in hybrid drive.
