Providing support and compassion.

When her brother passed away after a short but very serious illness, Martina Steinbrenner experienced first-hand just how valuable – and at the same time how far from guaranteed – good local palliative care can be. This served as an inspiration to make a difference herself. It began as a personal motivation to help give people with life-limiting illnesses the highest possible quality of life. Today, this has grown into long-term support for the palliative care of children and young people.

With the help of the association and funding from the Mercedes-Benz staff initiative ProCent, it was also possible to establish the Children’s Palliative Care Team in Stuttgart in 2016. To this day, the Stuttgart team continues to receive financial support, as does a second team which has since been set up in Tübingen. The association also provides funding for the position of a psychologist. Thanks to the work of these palliative care teams, whenever circumstances allow for this, children and their families are able to spend precious time together at home. One project which is especially close to Martina Steinbrenner's heart is helping fulfil the final wishes of children, which are entirely unique. Sometimes these wishes may be experiences together with the family, such as a visit to a football stadium or a long-awaited computer game. What’s important are the beautiful moments and memories which remain.
