Beyond the factory gates – our workforce's commitment

Employee engagement.

At Mercedes-Benz we strive to assume social responsibility beyond our business activities and make a positive contribution in the social sphere and environmental protection. In addition to the numerous initiatives and projects we promote, our employees worldwide are also involved in diverse ways.

Their personal commitment ranges from local initiatives to jointly organized aid projects in various countries, supported by internal platforms that facilitate team social days, funding applications for donation projects, or even private engagement. This voluntary commitment reflects our corporate culture and our employees’ sense of responsibility.

Mentoring programs – Mercedes-Benz Group AG worldwide.

Through Impact Mentor Training, a specially designed global qualification measure, Mercedes-Benz employees have the opportunity to develop their own skills as mentors and gain valuable perspectives they can apply in their professional environment. This training program also qualifies them to take on responsibility outside the company in their private lives, e.g., as mentors for scholarship holders in the beVisioneers program or similar initiatives.

This way, Mercedes-Benz employees can support a young person outside the company in actively driving sustainable change, and at the same time contribute to their own development. In this respect, the training program offers employees valuable perspectives they can apply in their professional environment.

Mercedes-Benz benefits as an employer when employees advance their personal development through this kind of training or special mentoring experiences. The more colleagues gain these experiences over the years, the deeper and more comprehensive their understanding of Mercedes-Benz's sustainable transformation becomes, which is characterized by pioneering spirit, resilience, and a sense of responsibility.

ProCent – Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Germany.

ProCent is an initiative by the Group Works Council, company management, and Group Speakers' Committee that enables simple and effective help. Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Mercedes-Benz AG employees voluntarily donate the cent amounts in their monthly net salary, and the sums are then matched by the company. This money flows into projects proposed by the workforce alone. This support goes to non-profit projects for children and young people, people with disabilities, as well as animal, environmental, and nature protection, mainly at Mercedes-Benz sites in Germany but also in around 80 countries worldwide.

Rally to Read – Mercedes-Benz South Africa.

For almost three decades, Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA) has collaborated with the READ Educational Trust to strengthen educational development in rural schools. This partnership is part of MBSA's CSR strategy and aims to improve the foundations for the academic and professional future of young people in South Africa.

The program promotes literacy skills in underserved schools through targeted support, teacher training, parent workshops, and the provision of learning materials for students in Pretoria and East London.

One highlight is the annual Rally to Read initiative, where MBSA employees participate as volunteers, read with students, and hand over learning materials. The initiative deepens the relationship between the company and the community and underscores MBSA's long-term social commitment to education and social development.
