“Driving Your Future”
75 Mercedes-Benz USA employees in Atlanta volunteered their time to help make the outdoor areas and communal spaces at Southwest DeKalb High School more attractive for pupils and teachers.
Volunteers had the opportunity to enhance the school’s outdoor spaces for teachers and pupils. Much work was done, from landscaping and beautifying the grounds and painting all the way to clearing and tidying the school property. Activities such as these are about far more than simply creating a learning environment which looks more appealing. The main objective is to generate a sense of community and belonging which evolves as a result of such communal endeavours. The beautification campaign at Southwest DeKalb High School was part of MBUSA’s fifth annual National Volunteer Week.
The objective of the school improvement project is to provide these young people with a sense of belonging, pride and identification with their school and their local community. Self-confidence and strong community support make for a better launch into the future. All National Volunteer Week activities support MBUSA’s corporate social responsibility initiative: “Driving Your Future”.
National Volunteer Week represents an important moment for Mercedes-Benz USA to demonstrate our commitment to advancing social change through volunteerism and awareness, and it is just one part of a much broader, year-round effort. Our teams and fantastic dealer partners are deeply committed to strengthening the communities where we live and work, and through ‘Driving Your Future’ we support educational programs that help empower and shape a more promising future for the next generation.
