The electric GLC

A focus on sustainability.

November 14, 2025 – The all-new electric GLC delivers efficiency and driving pleasure without compromise. And it does that while achieving major progress in resource conservation and decarbonisation. The all-new electric GLC achieves a two-thirds reduction in carbon footprint across its entire lifecycle compared to the current GLC powered by combustion engines.

This remarkable result is thanks to the consistent implementation of carbon reduction measures – from carbon-reduced aluminium to a 30% decrease per cell in the carbon footprint of the new battery generation. There is also a marked increase in the use of secondary (recycled) materials and renewable raw materials as well as the option of the world’s first certified vegan interior.

From the seat upholstery to the headliner, pillars, door panels and even the carpeting in the boot. The Vegan Package’s soft touch surfaces have been evaluated and certified by the vegan society.

The all-new electric GLC was designed from scratch with circularity and decarbonisation in mind. This is in line with the Mercedes-Benz “Design for Circularity” and “Design for Environment” approaches, whereby all components are engineered from scratch with sustainability in mind. Plastics, steel and aluminium are especially important as they are required in large quantities in vehicle production and are particularly energy and resource intensive. The remarkable overall reduction in carbon footprint is thanks to a combination of many measures.

Examples of resource conservation in the all-new GLC

  • Double the recycled content in the thermoplastics compared to the current GLC.
  • Reduced-carbon aluminium produced using renewably generated electricity and a high proportion of recycled material.
  • Every layer of the seats contains recycled materials – from the seat cover to the seat foam (30% recycled content), substructure, and metal components.
  • Man-made leather upholstery with backing textile made from recycled PET bottles.
  • Floor covering uses Econyl yarn made from 100% recycled content.

In a world first, Mercedes-Benz is introducing an independently certified Vegan Package, available as an option in the all-new electric GLC. World-renowned organisation The Vegan Society tested and verified as vegan all soft-touch surface materials in the vehicle interior.
