Memorandum of Understanding

Cooperation with TYTAN planned.

June 11, 2026 – Mercedes-Benz and Munich-based technology company TYTAN Technologies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on future cooperation at ILA 2026 (the International Aerospace Exhibition).

Michael Schiebe, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, responsible for Production, Quality & Supply Chain Management, and Balázs Nagy, CEO and Co-Founder of TYTAN Technologies, concluded the agreement during ILA 2026. The signing was attended by Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The current geopolitical challenges make it clear that we must rethink resilience and security. This makes it all the more important to pool the strengths of our industry in a targeted way. The planned cooperation between TYTAN Technologies and Mercedes-Benz is particularly exciting to me: it brings together the innovative power of a visionary start-up and the decades of experience and excellence of a long-established industrial company. This partnership is an impressive demonstration of the potential that emerges when bold technological ideas and industrial strength come together. Together, the two companies are making an important contribution to protecting our critical infrastructure even more effectively and sustainably strengthening Germany’s technological sovereignty.

At ILA 2026, Mercedes-Benz and TYTAN are also providing a first glimpse of a joint vehicle-based system network with a prototype. It illustrates possible approaches for integrating technology-based applications into mobile platforms and stands as an example of the shared development directions of the cooperation. The Memorandum of Understanding includes the evaluation and further development of a vehicle-based counter-drone and mission system based on the G-Class, as well as of a mobile drone carrier based on the Sprinter. In doing so, we take into account all regulatory framework conditions, in particular export-control, defence and security-law requirements.

With the Memorandum of Understanding with TYTAN Technologies, we are bringing together our respective strengths: today and in the future, Mercedes-Benz stands for robust and reliable base vehicles, while TYTAN stands for highly specialised expertise in drone, sensor and mission technology. Together, we want to work on innovative solutions for security and protection tasks. For Mercedes-Benz, expanding our long-standing expertise in the defence sector is a strategic field of development.”

Within the cooperation, TYTAN contributes its expertise in the development of drone-, sensor- and mission-related system solutions and is responsible for this area. Mercedes-Benz has many years of experience in the development, production and scaling of robust and adaptable vehicle platforms. The aim is to bring both areas of expertise together in selected projects and to evaluate possible applications for modular, vehicle-based solutions in a structured manner.

The agreement provides the framework for further cooperation and shows how capacities and capabilities can be combined to help strengthen Europe’s sovereignty and security over the long term.

The threat is real: every day, we are seeing overflights of German and European critical infrastructure. Agility and interoperability are no longer aspirations; they are necessities. In Mercedes-Benz, we have found a partner that brings industrial excellence and world-class institutional expertise. TYTAN Technologies contributes operational expertise and technical capability in autonomous air defence and counter-UAS systems. Together, we are creating a platform architecture that provides effective protection against unmanned threats — not in 2029, but today.
