Energy storage solutions that give vehicle batteries an additional use.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG and an ISO 9001-certified company, quality, reliability, and safety are top priorities. The focus is on the entire lifecycle of vehicle batteries – from efficient usage and further development to repurposing in scalable applications. One example is the "active spare parts storage", which optimally maintains batteries during storage while also providing all the benefits of stationary energy storage systems.

For custom projects, certified and tested base components and standardised interfaces are available to enable flexible system integration. Through knowledge-based consulting services and the qualification of international partners, comprehensive solutions for the demand-oriented and long-term use of energy storage systems are developed.

With a focus on the circular economy for battery systems, Mercedes-Benz Energy actively participates in research projects and contributes its extensive expertise. The aim is to repurpose vehicle batteries in stationary energy storage systems before recycling and subsequently return the materials they contain to the materials cycle.

This is achieved through:

• Optimal use of the vehicle battery beyond its automotive lifecycle
• Additional commercial use of the vehicle battery as a stationary energy storage system
• Extending the use of valuable raw materials in the vehicle and subsequently in the energy storage system
• Storing energy from renewable sources and making it available when needed
• Targeted use of energy storage systems at manufacturing sites to potentially reduce operational CO₂ emissions, depending on the source of the electricity used and the respective operating conditions
• Energy security for industrial operations
