More flexibility, lower costs: energy storage solutions from vehicle batteries.

Mercedes-Benz Energy GmbH (MBE), a subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG, develops pioneering energy storage systems, using innovative technologies. Central to their approach is a sustainable battery lifecycle: vehicle batteries are repurposed as stationary storage units, such as in spare parts storage, significantly extending their lifespan and delaying premature recycling. These versatile battery storage solutions are suitable for numerous applications in commerce and industry, are individually scalable, and make an important contribution to a stable, flexible, and more environmentally friendly energy supply. In doing so, Mercedes-Benz Energy contributes to a more sustainable future.

Norman Möhler, CEO Mercedes-Benz Energy

The close integration of the energy and automotive industries is essential for a more sustainable energy economy. The intelligent use of automotive battery systems represents an ecologically significant approach and plays a key role at the intersection of mobility and the energy transition, contributing to the efficient use of resources.

Large-scale storage stabilize the European power grid and maximize battery life.

Large-Scale storage ensures grid stability.

The large-scale storage systems of the joint venture between Mercedes-Benz Group, GETEC ENERGIE, and The Mobility House will remain active in primary control reserve for another five years. With 29 MW of power and 31 MWh of capacity, they help stabilise the European power grid.

MBE Factory 56

The future of production: how factory 56 redefines sustainability and efficiency.

In 2020, one of the world's most advanced assembly halls, Factory 56, was established at the Sindelfingen site. Factory 56 operates in a CO₂-neutral manner on a balance-sheet basis. A photovoltaic system on the roof supplies the hall with renewable energy, supported by a stationary energy storage system based on automotive batteries.
