Focus on Sustainability: Six Strategic Areas at Mercedes-Benz.

Focus on Sustainability

Six Strategic Areas.

November 20, 2024 – At Mercedes-Benz, sustainability is an integral part of our corporate activities. To drive our sustainable transformation, we have set six strategic focus areas: Environment & Climate, Resources & Circularity, Human Rights, Traffic Safety, Digital Trust, and People.

With these six focus areas, we concretise our sustainable business strategy in the fields of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) and further embed sustainability aspects into our daily business practices.

Mercedes-Benz stands for a holistic understanding of sustainability that encompasses ecological, social, and economic aspects. Our goal? To create lasting value for various stakeholders – our customers, employees, investors, business partners, and society as a whole.

Multi-stage strategy and analysis process

Our six strategic priorities are the result of a multi-stage strategy and analysis process, during which we worked intensively with internal and external stakeholders. The strategy process is based on comprehensive internal and external analyses and workshops, as well as a materiality analysis in accordance with the requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

In each of these areas, we have set specific targets and included sustainability indicators into a company-wide scorecard. The system is being continuously reviewed, and key indicators will be part of the annual sustainability reporting.
