Facts and figures
The Mercedes-Benz Plant Rastatt started production in 1992 and today serves as the competence center for compact car production within the global Mercedes-Benz production network. With around 7,000 employees, the plant, including its Kuppenheim site, is the largest employer in the region.
With the Mercedes-Benz CLA, the new generation of compact vehicles was launched in 2025. Today, the site produces the CLA as both a Coupé and Shooting Brake, as well as the compact SUV GLA. Production is drive-system flexible: hybrid and electric vehicles are built on the same production line. As a pioneer of the “Digital First” approach, the Rastatt plant consistently leverages digital technologies such as the digital twin and the MO360 production ecosystem.
At the nearby Kuppenheim site, body-in-white components as well as structural and body parts, particularly for compact vehicles, are manufactured.
