The Sino-German joint venture Fujian Benz Automotive Co., Ltd. (FBAC) was founded in June 2007 in Fuzhou and produces the Vito and the V-Class for the Chinese market.

The Mercedes-Benz Vito and the Viano were the first vehicles to roll off the production line in 2010, followed by the Sprinter in 2011. Production of the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) V-Class followed in March 2016, where the Viano was taken off from the market. In 2013, a R&D center was opened at the location. In 2022, the plant celebrated its 15th anniversary.
