The Mercedes-Benz Charleston Plant was founded as DaimlerChrysler Manufacturing International in April 2006 and renamed to Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC in January 2016.

In Charleston, around 1,700 employees manufacture the Sprinter and since January 2024 also the eSprinter for the North American market. Last year, Mercedes-Benz Vans celebrated a milestone with the production of five million Sprinter vans globally. Assembled at the company’s facility in Charleston, South Carolina, the five millionth vehicle – an all-electric eSprinter – was handed over to FedEx, a long-standing Mercedes-Benz Vans customer. In December 2025, the plant also launched CKD production of the Cab Chassis.
In 2026, the plant in Charleston celebrates its 20th anniversary.
