The Mercedes-Benz Vans Charleston Plant was established in April 2006 as DaimlerChrysler Manufacturing International and was renamed Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC in January 2016.

Today, approximately 1,700 employees in Charleston assemble the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans for the North American market, including the all electric eSprinter, which has been in production since January 2024.

In 2024, Mercedes-Benz Vans Charleston reached a significant global milestone with the production of five millionth Sprinter, globally. The five millionth Sprinter, an all electric eSprinter, assembled in Charleston, was delivered to FedEx, a long standing Mercedes-Benz Vans customer.

The plant further expanded its operations in December 2025 with the launch of cab chassis complete knock down (CKD) operations.

In 2026, the Mercedes-Benz plant in Charleston celebrates its 20th anniversary, marking two decades of commitment to innovation, quality, and the North American market.
