Mercedes-Benz expands its commitment at its headquarters in Stuttgart.

€24 million for society, environmental protection, and culture

Mercedes-Benz is committed to the Stuttgart region.

With diverse CSR initiatives, Mercedes-Benz is positively impacting society worldwide beyond its own business activities. However, the Stuttgart region has always enjoyed a particular significance as the company's headquarters.

Building on this long-standing commitment, Mercedes-Benz will further strengthen its engagement in the region. Beyond existing projects, Mercedes-Benz will support initiatives in the social, environmental, and cultural sectors with an additional €24 million up to 2029.

Shaping opportunities for tomorrow – strengthening societal cohesion

Mercedes-Benz is funding Mittendrin  (page only available in German) a participatory project initiated by the Stuttgart Community Foundation. Working with civil society partners and the city administration, the project identified key focus areas such as participation of children and young people, integration, and pathways out of poverty.

Together, they developed concrete strategies to address existing challenges. A subsequent call for proposals invited organizations and associations to submit their project ideas, leading to the selection of 23 projects for funding. Additionally, a dedicated House of Volunteering will also receive support.

Moor preservation and renaturation – promoting environmental protection in the region

Mercedes-Benz has further expanded its commitment to environmental protection to make an effective contribution to CO₂ storage and biodiversity in the region and protect an important natural resource. With the project Klima Chance Moore  (page only available in German), Mercedes-Benz is supporting the preservation and renaturation of moors in Baden-Württemberg with €5 million up to 2028. Although moors make up only about 3 to 4 percent of the world's land surface, they store approximately twice as much carbon in their peat soils as all forests combined, making them a central factor in climate protection.

For the implementation of the project, Wilhelmsdorf Nature Conservation Center was engaged as an experienced partner with the necessary expertise and infrastructure for rewetting and renaturation. The specific funding projects are being developed in coordination with Baden-Württemberg’s Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Energy Management, with the majority of the funds flowing into rewetting and renaturation measures.

Additionally, a Moor Competence Networking Center was established to coordinate activities and achieve environmental goals more efficiently across the state. Mercedes-Benz is funding this center during the project period and also providing two vehicles, one for the networking center personnel and a MoorMobile, a mobile knowledge workshop for environmental education.

New impulses for culture in Stuttgart

Mercedes-Benz has a long-standing commitment to numerous cultural institutions and projects, actively contributing to the cultural diversity of the Stuttgart region through its own initiatives. To further enhance this dedication, Mercedes-Benz and the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft (Cultural Circle of German Business) have jointly developed a holistic funding concept.

Through the Kulturkessel project  (page only available in German), Mercedes-Benz is investing a total of €6.5 million over five years to support cultural projects in Stuttgart, aiming to spark new artistic impulses and foster a vibrant cultural landscape in the state capital

Collaborations between Stuttgart's independent cultural scene and established institutions will introduce new formats and innovative artistic approaches, thereby carrying these impulses into urban society. A key objective is to cultivate a lasting interest in culture among 15- to 29-year-olds.

21 projects have already started through this initiative.

Stuttgart International Bach Academy

The Stuttgart International Bach Academy operates Bach Moves!  (page only available in German), a comprehensive music education program for children and youth. This initiative aims to introduce young people in the region to classical music, particularly the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. As a long-standing partner, Mercedes-Benz supports both the program and the Academy's annual family and Christmas concerts.

Mercedes-Benz also backs the Bach Moves! Soundmobile!, a mobile platform for music education managed by the Stuttgart International Bach Academy. Featuring innovative 3D audio technology, the Soundmobile offers a unique listening experience where sounds move spatially and voices are distinctly perceptible. This mobile unit is specifically designed for music education for children and young people and is deployed in schools across the Stuttgart region. Furthermore, this mobile sound space enhances various concert formats, making music more tangible and accessible for young audiences.
