Visual Handling with AI.

Handling of AI.

The digital transformation offers many possibilities and opportunities. At Mercedes-Benz, we want to seize the vast potential of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) while acting responsibly, guided by ethical standards.

We are convinced that AI can help us to shape the future in a positive way. At the same time, we are aware of risks and uncertainties associated with new technologies. Our aim is to develop and use AI applications responsibly and to meet ethical standards as well as legal requirements. Only by doing so can we live up to our own standards, as well as those of our customers and society. Our goal: to build trust among relevant stakeholders in our use of digital technologies.

With our AI Principles established in 2019, we at Mercedes-Benz were one of the first car manufacturers to define ethical and legal principles for the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence. Our four AI Principles are: responsible use, explainability, protection of privacy, and safety and reliability. AI is already part of our products and processes. We use it, for example, to make the production of our vehicles more flexible and efficient, and to better meet the needs of our customers.

Our four AI principles.

At Mercedes-Benz, Artificial Intelligence is deployed from the production line to the legal department. But always and everywhere, four principles apply to ensure that the technology is developed and used responsibly.
