Our Fields of Action
Our three fields of action, Best Mix, Working Culture and Customer Access, are at the foundation for a corporate culture in which diversity can unfold.
Best Mix: We form mixed teams – based on equal opportunity and non-discrimination. Because diverse perspectives make us successful.
Working Culture: We create a work environment characterized by appreciation and respect, and offer opportunities for a better work-life balance.
Customer Access: We understand and value our customers in their individuality. Our goal: Enabling people to experience mobility that fits to them and their life.
We make clear statements and commit ourselves to promoting diversity – in all its dimensions: age, ethnic background and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and worldview, sexual orientation, as well as social background. For this, we work on our own internal initiatives or collaborate with other organizations.
We champion equal opportunity for women and men. We have met our long-term goal of increasing the proportion of women in senior management positions worldwide to 20 percent by 2020: As of December 31, 2020, 20.5 percent of women were employed in senior management positions. Starting in 2021, we aim to further increase the share of women in senior management positions by one percentage point per year. Varieties of measures support women at Mercedes-Benz in their individual career planning.
Employing people with severe disabilities is more than just an obligation for Mercedes-Benz. With our inclusion agreement, we create and maintain jobs for severely disabled employees and ensure that they can participate in working life.
As a founding member and first signatory of the Charter of Diversity we are working together with other companies to bring the debate on diversity management in Germany forward.
Mercedes-Benz is part of the first global initiative specifically addressing the issue of promoting and empowering women in business: The UN Women’s Empowerment Principles. They include seven guidelines on equality for women. By signing, Mercedes-Benz has committed itself to integrating the principles into the company's practice.
Our accession to the initiative of the United Nations for combating discrimination against homosexuals, bisexuals, transgenders and intersexuals is a sign for the rights of the LGBTI+ Community.
With the signing of the HIV Declaration of the German AIDS Federation, we are taking a strong stand for respectful and non-discriminatory treatment of HIV-positive persons.
The Valuable 500 is a global initiative putting disability inclusion on the business agenda. Mercedes-Benz is one of 500 companies that are taking part in the initiative and thus making concrete commitments.
