The intelligent digital personal trainer for environmentally conscious driving
July 26, 2023 – Mercedes-Benz is committed to the all-electric future of mobility, and at the same time more and more people are opting for an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid as a way of doing their bit for the environment. But what is the best way to handle the vehicle's electrical capabilities? To help answer this question, Mercedes-Benz has now launched the Eco Coach App¹.
The Eco Coach App is a personalised coach designed to encourage more efficient driving and charging. It helps drivers to improve their driving and charging style and thus protect the environment. The Eco Coach is based on an individual driving profile and thus provides useful tips and recommendations, so in turn leading to longer battery life. Various factors are taken into account.
The app presents drivers with fun challenges to motivate them to drive in a more environmentally conscious way. The user can collect points by, for example, completing a route particularly efficiently or by recharging at different locations. The number of points depends on the difficulty of the challenge. In addition, the app allows a playful competition with the entire Eco Coach community – users can compete against other members and compare their performance. The points collected can then be used to support sustainable projects.
Our customers are experiencing a shift towards more environmentally friendly powertrains. An app that follows this trend is one that not only helps the driver, but also helps to protect the environment. The Eco Coach offers useful tips on how to use the vehicle as efficiently as possible. At the same time, the coaching extends the service life of the high-voltage battery, which leads to a longer service life for vehicles with battery-electric energy storage systems. The aim of the app is to improve the long-term performance of the battery by combining information with gamification elements. The Eco Coach is an important step towards an environmentally friendly vehicle industry and a sustainable future.
The Mercedes me Eco Coach is available for download free of charge as your virtual travel companion in the App Store and Google Play Store. The app supports efficient driving and charging, enabling you to get the most out of Mercedes-Benz electric and plug-in vehicles. Switching to an electric car can be challenging, but with Eco Coach by your side, you will quickly become an expert. The app will inform you and help you discover a new world of possibilities.
