In 1948, Heinrich C. Wagner is brought by Wilhelm Haspel from Opel to Daimler-Benz, where he takes over the management of the Mannheim and Gaggenau plants.

As a top-flight expert for modern production methods, he creates the conditions for the series production of commercial vehicles. He becomes the Chairman of the Board of Management after Wilhelm Haspel’s unexpected death in January 1952. Through his early and sudden death in January 1953, he holds this position for less than a year.
