Founded in 1902, the Berlin plant is the oldest producing Mercedes-Benz location and is responsible for the production of various drive components. These include camshafts and camshaft adjusters. By integrating electric drive components, the plant has already set its course for the future: The portfolio of the Berlin plant already includes assembly of electric drive units and for the so-called EE-compartment, the electrical control unit of a battery.
From the middle of the decade, the site will expand its electric portfolio with the assembly of high-performance electric motors. Since autumn 2022, the site is also home to the "Mercedes-Benz Digital Factory Campus", giving Berlin an important role in the digitization of production within the global network
