Dr. Manfred Bischoff

Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

From 2006 to 2021 member of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG. From 2007 to 2021 Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG.

Dr. Manfred Bischoff was born on April 22, 1942 in Calw (Germany). After obtaining a degree in Economics he worked from 1968 to 1976 as an assistant at the Alfred-Weber-Institute, University of Heidelberg where he was also awarded a doctorate rer. pol. in 1973.

In 1976, Dr. Bischoff joined Daimler-Benz AG as project coordinator for the alliance with Steyr-Daimler-Puch, with special responsibility for the cross-country vehicle Mercedes-Benz G-Class. In 1981, he was given responsibility for Equity Investments, Mergers & Acquisitions in the Finance department.

In 1988, Dr. Bischoff joined the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil as CFO. In 1989, he was appointed to the Board of Management of Deutsche Aerospace (later DaimlerChrysler Aerospace AG) as CFO. In 1995, he became Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler-Benz Aerospace (later Daimler Chrysler Aerospace AG) and a member of the Board of Management of Daimler-Benz AG. After the establishment of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) in the year 2000, Dr. Bischoff became its Chairman.

On December 15, 2003, Dr. Bischoff stepped down from the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler AG.

After his successful management career, Dr. Bischoff was appointed to the Supervisory Board of DaimlerChrysler, and in 2007, he took over the chairman’s role. He repeatedly helped the company to make fundamental strategic decisions which, amongst other things, paved the path for the return of the Mercedes-Benz brand to the top of the premium segment. In five decades of change, Dr. Bischoff was a pillar of support.

On March 31, 2021 Dr. Bischoff stepped down as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG and was thereafter awarded the title of Honorary Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler AG - now Mercedes-Benz Group AG.
