Digital Payments with Mercedes pay.

Digital Payments with Mercedes pay.

December 15, 2025 – Life is becoming more digital every day, and the future of mobility is flexible and connected. Today, a vehicle is increasingly an emotional living space rather than just a means of transport. Especially through digital services, customers can tailor their vehicles to their individual needs and preferences. An excellent digital customer experience includes secure, seamless, and convenient digital payments.

As a pioneer in the field, Mercedes-Benz has its own FinTech division with Mercedes pay, enabling secure digital transactions for products and services in collaboration with leading partners. Customers who create a payment profile in their customer account gain access to many digital services from Mercedes-Benz—on the web, in the Mercedes-Benz app, at the point of sale, or directly in the vehicle.

Payment Profile as the Key to the Ecosystem

The key to seamless payments throughout the Mercedes-Benz ecosystem is storing preferred payment methods (e.g., credit or debit cards, SEPA, PayPal) in the Mercedes-Benz customer profile, which can be saved for future purchases. This makes processes such as online reservation payments for a new vehicle, or paying digitally for fuel or parking, significantly simpler — without the need for cash or a separate smartphone app.

Innovation Topic: In-Car Payments

Mercedes-Benz is a technological leader, especially in seamless in-car payments. For several years now, customers have been able to complete fuel payments or purchases from the Mercedes-Benz Store via the MBUX system.

Until recently, two-factor authentication required entering a PIN in the MBUX system and confirming the transaction on a smartphone. With the introduction of Mercedes pay+, this process has become even more seamless. Authentication now takes place using biometric factors (such as facial recognition or fingerprint) in combination with the vehicle.

Customers can conveniently pay for parking, fueling, charging, and purchases from the Mercedes-Benz Store, such as the e-Vignette or Digital Extras, directly from the car. For payments requiring two-factor authentication, the vehicle acts as a payment instrument in combination with biometrics, like a smartphone. Mercedes-Benz is taking in-car payments to the next level, ushering in a new era of payment—from cash and cards to smart devices such as smartphones or smartwatches, and now to the vehicle itself.

The complexity of the payment process fades into the background, allowing customers to enjoy security, time savings, and convenience.

Security and Data Protection

Mercedes-Benz customers can view and manage the payment information stored in their profile at any time. Payment methods can be added or removed, and customers can see which services and features a specific payment method is set as the preferred option for – and adjust these preferences as needed.

In the Privacy Center, customers have a clear overview of their personal data and can decide how Mercedes-Benz may use it.

The stored data is protected with the highest security and industry standards (PCI DSS), equivalent to the standards used by banks.
