The Mercedes-Benz Untertürkheim Plant with its over 19,000 employees has a 110-year tradition and is the lead plant in the global Powertrain production network.

The parent plant: Untertürkheim is home to the development, production and shipping of engines, transmission and axles, as well as to Mercedes-Benz Group Headquarters. The Research and Development unit is also located here with the high banked curve for vehicle testing. The plant comprises six sub-plants. While engines are built in Untertürkheim and Bad Cannstatt, where the forge is also located, transmissions are produced in Hedelfingen. Mettingen is home to the axle production and the foundry.
