Roman Romanowski was born in 1974 in Reszel (Poland). He studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. After completing his legal internship at the Regional Court of Stuttgart, he worked as a legal secretary at DGB Rechtsschutz GmbH in Pforzheim. From 2008 to 2012 he worked as an attorney in Mannheim and Stuttgart. Subsequently, he moved to IG Metall Baden-Württemberg as a district attorney and advised the trade union secretaries on issues of labor law. During this time he was also active as negotiator for the electrical trade in Baden-Württemberg. In 2020, he was the specialist legal and compliance officer for the General and Group Works Councils at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG. From 2021 to 2023, he was Head of the Legal Affairs and Data Protection Unit at the Board of Management of IG Metall, Frankfurt am Main. He is now working as in-house legal counsel for IG Metall.

Roman Romanowski is an honorary judge at the Federal Labor Court in Erfurt and a member of numerous advisory boards of journals and institutes. In addition, he is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hans Böckler Foundation.
