The Mercedes-Benz Rastatt Plant employs more than 6,500 people, making it the largest employer in the region.

Rastatt is the lead plant for the production of compact vehicles in the global production network of Mercedes-Benz. The A-Class, the B-Class, the B-Class Electric Drive (power consumption: 16.6 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km*) and the GLA, the compact SUV, are built here. More than 300,000 vehicles rolled off the Rastatt assembly lines in 2016. The production network for the current compact car generation also includes the plant in Kecskemét, Hungary (B-Class, CLA, CLA Shooting Brake), the Chinese production location BBAC (GLA) in Beijing, as well as the Finnish contract manufacturer Valmet Automotive (A-Class).
