Background

Safety is an essential part of the DNA of Mercedes-Benz and one of the central responsibilities we have placed on ourselves – a responsibility we have to all road users.

Now, in 2022, the brand with the three-pointed star is using two anniversaries in the areas of active and passive safety as an opportunity to present its latest safety features. 25 years ago, the moose test in Sweden led to the rapid introduction of the Electronic Stability Program, ESP®, in the compact class as standard. And 20 years ago, PRE-SAFE® linked active and passive safety elements for the first time to provide preventive accident protection. Today, the goal is clear: no traffic accidents by 2050, as well as halving the number of traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030 compared to 2020 – consistent with the “Vision Zero” goals. “Vision Zero” is a vision of traffic without injuries and fatalities.
