The Mercedes-Benz plant in Hamburg is an important part of the powertrain production network, and a high-tech location for e-mobility drive components.
In addition to the customary product areas of drive components, which range from axles and axle components to steering columns and lightweight structural parts to exhaust technology components, the plant has also produced electrified axles for product and technology brand EQ’s full-electric vehicles since 2019.
The Hamburg plant also supplements its portfolio with integrated starter generators (iSGs) - an important building block on the path to CO2-neutral mobility. In the future, every Mercedes-Benz passenger car will contain at least one product built at the Hamburg plant.
The sustainability and environmental protection are topics which have been strongly rooted at the Mercedes-Benz Hamburg plant for many years and are very important. These include, among others, diverse green spaces at the plant, which were designed in close cooperation with the German Nature and Biodiversity Union (NABU) in order to promote biodiversity.
Founded in 1935 as Vidal & Sohn Tempowerk GmbH, the Hamburg plant became a production plant of the then Daimler-Benz AG in 1978.
